You Won’t Believe What Triggered Outrage in the eSports World!

The Malaysian eSports Federation (MESF) has taken a strong stance against recent displays of disrespect within the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) community. These incidents have created a stir among Malaysians and have raised questions about the ethical conduct within the eSports industry.

The first problematic incident involved an American player from the MLBB team, BloodThirstyKings. Known by his gaming alias Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun, he posted a controversial video on Instagram. The video depicted the Malaysian flag, Jalur Gemilang, with the word “noob” — a derogatory term for inexperienced players — imposed over it. This act was seen as deeply disrespectful to the national emblem, sparking widespread discontent.

Meanwhile, another controversy erupted when the official Instagram account of the MLBB Professional League Indonesia (MPLID) shared a flawed image of the Malaysian flag. Designed to celebrate Malaysia’s victory over Indonesia, the graphic mistakenly featured only 11 stripes instead of the official 14. MESF argued that such misrepresentation not only affects national sentiment but also challenges the professionalism expected in global events.

In light of these incidents, MESF has demanded public apologies and stricter preventive measures from the involved parties. They also called on Moonton Game, the developers of MLBB, to take decisive action. While Cosgun has publicly apologized and retracted the offending content, MESF continues to urge Moonton to take steps in maintaining respect and integrity within the eSports platform. These events underline the importance of cultural sensitivity and respect within the flourishing world of online gaming.
